Orientation Week Expectations

The first week of college will fly by in an instant. Orientation Week is a chance for new students to become acclimated to Florida Tech before classes start. The Orientation Team works hard to ensure you get the most out of this week with fun and important events and programs.

Tuesday is move-in day for most new students. After you leave check-in at the Clemente Center, head over to your dorm to meet your roommate and RA! The Greek community will help unpack your car and take your things up to your dorm. Once you unpack, check out what the rest of the week holds for you!

Informational Sessions

Orientation Week provides information about campus through informational sessions. These sessions range from topics about Holzer Health Center to Study Abroad to Campus Services. While these programs are not mandatory, it is important to learn about campus before the classes start. It is a good idea to check out the Student Involvement Fair to see what organizations you are interested in joining.

Exams

Even though classes start the week after Orientation, students have the opportunity to take placement and advanced exams for classes like math and science during. International students should look at the schedule to find tests and writing samples specific to them. Be sure to contact your department head ahead of time to schedule your test. There will also be a time where you can meet your department and classmates for your major, so take advantage of that one-on-one time!

Psychological Illusionist

The illusionist is an event you do not want to miss. Have you ever seen a human monkey? Or a human rollercoaster? Watch your classmates experience things they will not remember when they walk out the door. It is one of the best events during Orientation Week and one you will definitely remember!

Color Wars is a weeklong competition between new students. Besides building creations out of balloons and running through blow-up obstacles courses, it is great way to meet new people and bond with your roommates. You do not want to miss out on all the fun!
