Aerospace Engineering Grad Lands Position as Shuttle Flight Controller

Laura Slovey graduated from Florida Tech in 2004 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering.  She is currently a Shuttle Flight Controller for United Space Alliance.

“I currently work in the Space Shuttle Mission Control Center.  My group/call sign, MMACS ( Mechanical, Maintenance, Arm & Crew Systems) is responsible for all the mechanical systems on board the vehicle. The best part about studying aerospace engineering at Florida Tech is the relationship they have with the local aerospace industry.”

Laura is also providing operational input for the new vehicle design in order to begin the transition from the Space Shuttle program.
