Daniela Iacobelli ’09, Perseverance Pays Off

With her larger-than- life personality, Daniela Iacobelli burst onto the collegiate golf scene as 2005 Sunshine State Conference Freshman of the Year. She graduated from Florida Tech in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and she has continued to work the golf circuit ever since.

Daniela was the individual winner of the 2007 NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championship, recording twenty-nine top-ten finishes, including eight wins. She was also named the 2007 Florida Tech Female Athlete of the Year.

“I have such a great opportunity to reach people, change lives, inspire people, and to get girls involved in golf. I’m looking to change the game,” she explains.

Daniela made ten cuts in fifteen events played with a win in the Symetra Tour Championship to earn her LPGA Tour card for the 2013 season. Her other professional victory came at the 2015 Tullymore Classic, earning her LPGA Tour card for the 2016 season. She had three top-ten finishes in 2017 on the Symetra Tour.

Iacobelli was featured in Florida Tech’s 60th Anniversary special edition book, “60 for 60: Celebrating Sixty Years of Alumni at Florida Institute of Technology.” Copies are available for purchase here.
