Show your love for banned comics and graphic novels by reading from your favorites! As part of Evans Library’s annual celebration of banned books, Famous Faces and Funnies will sponsor a free Virtual Readout event on Friday, September 5, from 6-8 pm, on the library’s first floor. Readings will be filmed and shared to the American Library Association’s Virtual Readout of Banned Books.
Evans Library will host Francis Gigantic of The Gigantic Company on Friday, August 22, from 6-8 pm for a Make-A-Comic Workshop as part of our annual celebration of banned books. Mr. Gigantic will present an overview of the art of comics, best practices for script writing, and some free online tools for creating your own animated comic strips. Sponsored by the American Library Association and Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, among others, Banned Books Week 2014 features banned and challenged graphic novels, illustration-based narratives written for kids of all ages.

Carla Deras, Jess Cushman, Shelby Stansell, and Asim Conrad recently maximized their library time to reveal the murder weapon from Evans Library’s “Death of a Librarian” mystery. The FIT Student Government Association members’ can-do attitude netted them an easily dividable $40 win — inspiring!
