Florida Tech Women Golf Team Win Battle at Hilton Head

No. 15 Florida Tech picked up right where it left off after an excellent opening round of the Battle at Hilton Head. The Panthers fired off a collective 299 (+11) during Tuesday’s final round and cruised to a 13-shot victory at the Battle at Hilton Head.

This is the 15th tournament win in program history and the 12th under head coach Chris Saltmarsh. It is also the first win for the Panthers since the 2016 NCAA Super Regional Preview.

There were 21 schools participating, total of 108 players. Three of them are from the Nathan M. Bisk College of Business.

Senior Lucy Eaton won the individual championship after producing a +1 in 36 holes. This is her first collegiate win as she becomes just the 10th golfer in program history to achieve the feat.

Hailey Ko who competed as an individual, had a strong tournament for the Panthers and finished in a tie for fifth.

Paola Ortiz also finished in the top 10, shooting 7-over 155 during her two days on the course to end in a tie for ninth.

The Florida Tech women’s golf team will be back in action on Mar. 11-12 competing in the Peggy Kirk Bell Memorial Invitational. The 54-hole event is hosted by Rollins College at the Golden Bear Club at Keene’s Pointe in Windermere, Florida.
