Three business students win financial executives international awards

It was just announced that three College of Business students won awards from the Financial Executives International Central Florida Chapter. FEI’s mission is to advance the success of senior-level financial executives, their organizations and the profession. With that in mind, the FEI recognizes outstanding students in the areas of accounting and finance. Two students, Nathan Marles and Kaylin Jaichon won scholarships and Dwight (D.J.) Pate won an award for the FEI Distinguished Scholar Program.

Nathan is an Information Systems major who has been a successful entrepreneur since ninth grade. Marles Enterprises was started to provide local businesses/individuals with high quality technology solutions.  His company grew from helping family & friends to having several business clients that depended on him for tech support and assistance when they were purchasing new technology products.  His entrepreneurial spirit continued when he and two friends decided to take their property maintenance and construction experience and start Northern Wake Maintenance inFlorida. In addition, Nathan has been on the Dean’s list throughout his time at Florida Tech.

Kaylin is currently a junior and is double majoring in Accounting and Marketing. She plans to continue her education after getting her bachelor’s degrees in December 2013 and obtain an MBA. She then plans to take the CPA exam to get her certification as an accountant and hopes one day to become a CFO. Many of us recognize Kaylin as a Panther on the Women’s Basketball team. This year marks the second year in a row that the team has been invited to the NCAA Tournament. Even though Kaylin is extremely busy, she has been on the Dean’s list every semester!

Dwight (D.J.) has been at Florida Tech since 2007 when he enrolled as an International Business major. He graduated May 2011 Summa cum Laude and is now completing the Fast Track M.B.A. and will graduate this May. For his M.B.A, D.J. is specializing in Accounting and is currently an Associate Staff Accountant Intern at Berman Hopkins Wright & LaHam. Throughout his time at FIT, D.J. has been a member of the Tennis Team. He won several awards in the last four years including Scholar Athlete of the Year Award, Faculty Honors Award and Outstanding Senior of the Year Award.

All three students will receive their awards at the annual Financial Executives International “Academic Night” on April 12, 2012 that takes place in Orlando
