CoB Students Take Part in Business Case Competition

In the beginning, I thought being a part of the First Annual International Business Competition was just something I could add to my resume. Now that the competition is over, I can honestly say it was a great learning experience. Not only did I learn more about working with people from different backgrounds, but I also learned to appreciate others’ ideas. Given that our trip was an eight hour drive, we had plenty of time to talk and learn more about the people we were traveling with. I truly enjoyed getting to know my classmates better.

I think that this competition was challenging due to the amount of time given to complete the case. It was also challenging since we were put onto teams with students from other schools. I think having a teambuilding exercise, before the trip to the aquarium, would be more beneficial to the students. I really enjoyed the trip to the aquarium and was impressed by the exhibits. The whale shark exhibit was the most impressive because of the ability to see different angles of the tank.

I enjoyed this whole experience, and I think everyone did a great job putting it all together. However, I feel that the students could have been better informed of the competition details before hand, so they would have had a better idea of what to expect. In my opinion, if the students have a chance to get to know their teammates ahead of time, it would also be beneficial. Overall, I think that this was a great experience. I am very thankful to Mr. Muth, the Florida Institute of Technology’s College of Business, and Georgia State University for providing such an opportunity
