Meet the Cars

Transformers’ Bumble Bee and Mayberry Cruiser Featured in 2011 Fireball Run

Team Florida Tech Corvette

When the Fireball Run begins on Sept. 24, 2011, Team Florida Tech will take to the road in a brand new Corvette ZR-1, a sweet ride if ever there was one. It likely won’t be the only car getting attention, however, as the rally will also feature a number of famous vehicles.

How about Bumble Bee from the “Transformers” movies? Bumblebee is a customized 2010 Chevrolet Camaro 2LT. The modern Camaro that appeared in the film “Transformers” (2007) was a concept car, not brought to production until three years later with only minor changes for safety reasons. This car has instant recognition and always turns heads!

Mayberry Cruiser

Then there’s a car you might remember from the classic “Andy Griffith Show.” This ’65 Ford Galaxie 500 Police Interceptor 390 began its life as the Mayberry Police Car. An antique LA Police Cruiser, it has been used in many movies that required a law enforcement vehicle with a 60s look. The car was last used in the Leonardo DiCaprio/Tom Hanks film, “Catch Me If You Can.” It was Tom Hanks’ police car.

Fueled by the Fallen

Another celebrity car you’ll want to watch out for is Fueled By The Fallen, a “memorial race car” driven in support of past and present members of the military, current and former public safety personnel, and their families. The proceeds raised by the team behind this car aid in their emotional, physical and financial recovery needs.

The start of the Fireball Run on Sept. 24, 2011, in downtown Melbourne is sure to be a car show like no other. Join us for this fun and exciting event  to see these four great cars and many more!
