Poe’s Spooktacular Tales: From Page to Scream

Friday, November 1, 2019 Evans Library, first floor 6:30-8 p.m.

The School of Arts and Communication and Evans Library are hosting Reel Reads After Hours to keep the Halloween mood going.  Join us as we examine several clips from different film adaptations of Edgar Allan Poe’s most famous stories, including “The Black Cat,” “The Cask of Amontillado,” “The Fall of the House of Usher,” “The Premature Burial,” and “The Masque of the Red Death.”

We will also explore depictions of Poe that have appeared on screen in films like John Cusack’s The Raven (2012), on TV shows like Altered Carbon on Netflix in 2018, and in Seth Grahame-Smith’s 2010 novel Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter.

Drs. Debbie Lelekis, Melissa Crofton, and Angela Tenga will lead the discussion, but everyone is invtied to participate and share their thoughts on these classic tales. It’s the perfect time of year to celebrate one of America’s most influential authors!

Free and open to the public. For more information, contact Nancy Garmer at ngarmer@fit.edu
