Disney’s Beauty and the Beast: Behind the Scenes Tour

Humanities and Communication students at Florida Tech will have the rare opportunity on October 2nd to witness a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the Broadway musical Beauty and the Beast at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center during the first departmental sponsored fieldtrip.

Students will have a private, guided tour of the theatre and watch the “load-in” day of the production–a technical term for the transformation of the stage as the scenery is assembled and props arranged for the show. The load-in typically occurs the morning before a performance and generally serves as the dress rehearsal for traveling productions. Following a special presentation by the stage manager, students will then be taken to meet the PR executives to have an interactive look at managing press relations.

The event is sponsored by the Department of Humanities and Communication in an effort to provide a multidimensional look at the Performing Arts as well as provide an insider’s look at career options for graduates in the field Humanities and Communication. Students will have a better understanding of the performing arts, the PR profession, media relations, stage management, and event planning following their participation in the fieldtrip.

The musical Beauty and the Beast has grossed over $1.4 billion worldwide. The musical will be playing October 2nd to 7th at Bob Carr Performing Arts Center.
