Happy New Years and Welcome Back!

I want to start off by wishing everyone a happy new year and welcoming all the returning students back to Florida Tech.  I also hope the new students enjoy their first semester here as much as I have. I believe the first week back for everyone has been a smooth yet tiring transition.  Having to wake up early again after a long break is not always easy, but with the right mindset it should be no problem. I for one am excited to go to my classes. I enjoy computer science and nothing will stop me from learning more about it. It has always been my passion to learn more and more about computer systems. Many believe that those who learn computer science, learn it just for the money and the job opportunities. While that may be true it has no influence on why we do what we do. I like computer science because it allows me to create my own programs or computers systems, which has the potential to make day to day life easier.  Everything in the world today uses some sort of technology that computer scientist and engineers are a part of. I believe that there is still room for that technology to develop and I plan to be a part of that. If anyone has any questions about it, feel free to look me up on Facebook.

One piece of advice I can give all freshmen is to stay ahead of the game. I know everyone says it a lot, but it really does play an important part of how well you do in college. Never leave anything to the last minute. Get to know people in your residence hall and/or classroom. Making friends today is the best thing you can do in your life. The close friends you make today will help you through any problems that may occur in the future. Besides, IT’S FUN!  You can thank me later.

Another thing I encourage everyone to do is be a part of the many different organizations there are on campus. There is something here for everyone. This will also benefit you in the future when it comes to finding a job. I myself am a part of five organizations and I don’t plan to stop there.  Being an international student, these organizations have helped me cope with my studies.
