Professor Jose Maria Peiro Visits Florida Tech to Share Cross Cultural Stress Research

Professor Jose Maria Peiro vistited Florida Tech and conducted a workshop on the management of work related stress from a cross cultural perspective.  Dr. Peiró is a Professor of Work and Organizational (W&O) Psychology of the University of Valencia, Spain. He is Director of the Research Institute of Human Resources Psychology, Org. Development and Quality of Working life (IDOCAL) and the President of the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP). He also served as President of the European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology (EAWOP) and is Fellow member of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) and the European Academy of Occupational Health Psychology (EAOHP). In addition, he is the coordinator of the Erasmus Mundus Master Program of Work, Organization and Personnel Psychology taught by a consortium of five Universities: Barcelona, Bologna, Coimbra, Paris and Valencia.

In addition to his many other responsibilities, Dr. Peiro serves on the advisory board of the Institute for Cross Cultural Management (ICCM).  While in Melbourne, Dr. Peiro met with the Institute staff to discuss international research collaboration, and also spoke about internationalizing organizational psychology and other management sciences as part of the Leaders Engaging Globally lecture series.  “Globalization requires competent management of cultural diversity within organizations and in interactions with external agents (clients, users, etc.). New demands and cultural challenges are emerging every day. The research and professional development activities of ICCM provide outstanding evidence based practices to address these challenges”, Dr Peiro stated.
