Flying High

FIT aviation had the honor of hosting the National Intercollegiate Flying Association’s (NIFA) region IX regional competition on the week of October 18th through 23rd at Melbourne International Airport. Embry-Riddle, Auburn, Miami-Dade, and Polk State, joined Florida Tech at Melbourne for a week full of competition, academics, socializing and safety.

This year, Florida Tech brought home the gold! We beat many personal records from years past. The Florida Tech Falcons Precision Flight team earned first place in flight events. The Falcon’s won second place overall.

It is an honor to be an asset to a team of like-minded aviation enthusiasts. In addition to our local talent, it was a fantastic experience to meet with similar students from around the southeastern region. These competitions assure our safety and uphold a great deal of standardization in the aviation industry. We even had the honor dining in the presence of esteemed pilots who were there to guide us along in the process to success. The Falcons are preparing for the NIFA national competition at Ohio State. I look forward to balancing my pilotage for the Falcons with rigorous academics. My occupation now is flying and studying; I really am living the dream.
