The Importance of Being a Good Corporate Citizen

I think most of us understand the importance of giving back – although many busy small business owners simply don’t have time to give it much thought. Being a respected business owner means providing stellar customer service everyday, but also supporting other small businesses in the area, and adopting a few causes that are near and dear to the heart of your own business culture.

It’s important to know that you don’t have to get involved on every volunteer Board and Committee you’re approached with. Be selective – choose causes that make sense for your brand – and use your brand and (if applicable) your storefront to not only promote those charitable causes, but to impact the positive reputation of your brand in the community!

When you spend the time to engage and utilize your brand as a platform to draw attention to good causes, you will see returns in your business as well. It’s just the right thing to do.

This week Caroline Caudill, owner of The Chandlery in Downtown Melbourne, talks about her own efforts to be a good corporate citizen. READ HERE for more.
