Music Program Celebrates Florida Tech’s 60th Anniversary

The Music Program will celebrate Florida Tech’s 60th Anniversary with a special concert on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 7:00 pm in Gleason Auditorium. The concert is FREE and open to the public.

The event will celebrate the University’s history by showcasing the growth of the relatively new Music Program. The Concert Choir, the String Orchestra, the Concert Band, and the Panther Big Band will take the stage with a sample of pieces. The variety of programming as well as the sheer number of students on stage reflects Florida Tech’s support of the arts in the curriculum and community. Dr. Joe Montelione and Prof. Eliza Dopira of the music faculty will conduct the student ensembles. 

The Music Program was established 12 years ago, as part of Florida Tech’s growth and development into a comprehensive, research institution. Music study contributes to University’s undergraduate core, providing students with outlets for creativity, enrichment, and expression. In such a short time, the Music Program has grown in size and complexity, offering instruction in ensembles, private and group applied study, and humanities electives, as well as the Music Minor. Students forge personal relationships in the Music Program and explore ways to connect their music study to their major in STEM fields.

The Music Program is grateful for the support of the University and many patrons in the community and this celebration will both reflect the growth of the music program and foreshadow the opportunities that lie ahead.
