John Villotti, BA Forensic Psychology 2014

Special Agent, U.S. Secret Service

John is currently a Special Agent with the U.S. Secret Service. After graduation he was a Deputy Sheriff for the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office. “There is no such thing as a typical day when it comes to protecting our nation’s leaders. I think everything about my job is neat! My biggest piece of advice would be to get as much real world job experience as you can before applying to any federal job. Also, don’t be afraid to make professional contacts and keep in touch. Those contacts will help you in the long run to achieve your goals.”

“I would say all the specialty classes I took that emphasized clinical forensic psychology at FIT really helped me understand how mental illness is related to crime and how to properly deal with the mentally ill in a law enforcement capacity. Without those classes it would have been a lot harder to effectively do my job. My favorite memories would have to be some of the group projects senior year. Getting to work with like-minded individuals was fun and also taught me the teamwork skills that I still use to this day!”
