Panthers Teach Children Volleyball at Local School.

by Florida Tech Sports

The Florida Tech volleyball team visited Suntree Elementary School’s first grade classes for the second time this year last Friday, April 15.

On the first visit, the Panthers stopped by different classrooms to read the students’ favorite stories, answer questions and interact with the children. The initial experience proved to be fun and very entertaining for the entire team.

Instead of staying inside the classroom the second time around, the squad taught 90-plus first graders how to play a little volleyball. Each student-athlete was given a group of 10 children and four volleyballs. With excited children ready to learn, they proceeded to the playground to teach them the basics.

The Panthers thoroughly enjoyed working with the children during both trips. They are already looking forward to planning similar volunteer opportunities next season.

“It was a very rewarding experience to be able to interact with the children,” junior setter Haley Tignor said. “It was nice to give back to the community by giving the kids an opportunity to learn something new and also have fun while doing it.”
